Advice from 2nd graders is pretty legit

Today I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with E$ on the phone. Which is really a rare occurrence. She was busy molding the minds of tomorrow's leaders(or prison inmates its hard to tell these days) and she really wanted to talk. So while we were conversing on ridiculous things in my life, she turns to the classroom of 20 2nd graders to get their advice. The question was "What can hairofgold do to get a boyfriend?" Not my idea, but E$ threw that out to the kiddies. The responses were hilarious, and true.

1) Dress pretty-Done. I wear lots of shiny fabrics and sequins kid, you have no idea. Most of the girls thought this was the answer, sort of explains the female population mentality in a way.
2) Pretend like you're rich-Check. This one came from the boys. I have the Coach bag that looks expensive and a bunch of knock off crap from Italy. I could walk around throwing dollar bills in air and "making it rain" like in the rap videos, but my aging car kind of gives away my true poverty-stricken state.
3) Just talk to him and tell him how your life feels- This is actually a great idea little girl. Honesty is the best policy. If only I could just tell boys how my life feels. It feels....real, surreal, unreal. I should probably decide how my life feels before I start talking to others about it.
4) Don't talk to other guys in front of him-Apparently if I talk to other boys in front of the one I like, 2 things will happen:
1) Boy 1 will get jealous and not want to talk to me ever again.
2) Boy 2 will start to like me and then I will have 2 boys liking me... that's a big problem according to the 2nd graders.
5) Ask him out on a date-
6) Don't ask him out on a date-
These were both responses to the same question so as you can tell, I was confused. But thank goodness the 2nd graders explained further.
I can ask a boy out once and if he says yes, then he loves me. If not, I'm never to speak with him again.
But then I was informed that I need to wait for the boy to ask me and to make sure that he pays for the dinner, because guys like that. If I dress pretty and pretend to be rich, this will happen.
I can't remember all the other wonderful advice from them, but it was hilarious. 2nd graders know too much about dating and grown up life.

The Rumors are True

There has been a lot of noise on the radio frequencies about a possible new thing in my life and I am here to clarify the rumors. Pregnant....nope, addicted to pain meds....nah, too expensive, training for a triathlon....yep. The rumors are true and thanks to Truth they are flying like crazy. I was going to keep it hush hush, but when post something on the blog all of my millions of readers see and want to know everything.

This week was the first of training. My race isn't until September, but there are some brutally harsh details that I was not aware of before agreeing to do this with Truth. Like usual, she's convinced me to do this idiotic event just because she wanted to do one. Why can't I say no? So the running is the easiest part for me. With all of my experience that is the most fun about this whole thing. Here's what concerns me:

1) Swimming. I was on a swim team growing up, so I'm used to swimming and the equipment. But I'm used to swimming 50 or 100 yrds sprints and calling it quits. Now I have to go for 40 minutes or more. That's probably the most boring part about this all. Plus, I'll have to swim in ocean water and I will have to buy a wetsuit and will most likely be eaten by a shark while training.

2)Biking. Its also not very exciting and I need to get out on the trail, because the stationary thing is not cutting it for me. But I was able to finish 2 books this week due to some major time on a bike. I have a loaner from Stephy and the tire was already flat as I rode off. I need some help with that equipment. Also hills on a stationary bike are much different that real ones. I found a really long path along a freeway here that I will try next week. Hopefully it works out for me.

Well, that's really what I'm concerned with. 2 out of 3 ain't half bad. I do everything 3 times a week and rotated the days. I've already swam 2 days in the rain. I'm hardcore like that. Right now were are just trying to build endurance and get used to equipment. I have no time goal, I just want to finish happy and healthy. So if anyone has some pointers I would love the help. And if anyone wants to train with me that would be even better.

Philly and the Cheetah

Take a look at this cool video my bro sent from South Africa. Sorry it's poor quality, but there is audio too

Loved the part where he played off the fact that he got really scared because the cheetah rolled over by asking a question to the naturalist. Good move Philly

Why I deserved a Mother's Day Call

So my little bro on the mish, only gets to call home at Christmas and Mother's Day. I have been fortunate enough to be home for all the other calls, but with finals right after Mother's Day, I knew that it wouldn't be possible for this last call. So Truth thought it would be a great idea for me to write down all the fun questions that I had for Philly and give them to her. That way she could have the enjoyment of listening to his responses. Well, this didn't really fly for me, so I wrote Philly and explained to him why I deserved at least 20 minutes of his time. Some people thought that it was inappropriate for me to speak to him or that it was against the rules, but I don't think so. Here were some of my arguments:
1) Medical reason-His pregnant sister who is due next week was not able to fly home and be part of the call there.
2) Time Efficiency-He was able to speak to 3 people at one time here in San Diego, so it was actually a better use of his time.
3) Compensation Due-I probably write him the 2nd most amount (behind Truth) and I plainly stated that I only wrote him to get the phone calls from him and if I didn't get phone calls, I don't write letters.
4) Religious purposes-I said that I would believe more if he called me. It would be a fruit of my faith. I believe more.
It wasn't like it was super easy for me to call him. I had to get up really early, spend 30$ on a phone card and wait 40 minutes for Truth to get off the phone. But I must say that it was totally worth it. I miss the golden boy and all of his royal punkness. I don't miss how completely spoiled he was and that he now is bigger than me. I can't wait to see him in December.

Life After Finals Week

This finals week marked the ending of my first year in grad school. It was a nice feeling to turn in that last one and just realized that I had all summer to recuperate..or did I. Thursday was the last day and to mark that happy occasion, I went to the beach. Not intending to stay long, I didn't put on sun screen. Let's just say that I knew it would be a long weekend. Thanks goodness the roomies were gone so that I could cover myself with Lidocaine Aloe Vera. I went through half a bottle already.
Friday I attended the Relief Society campout at Lake Jennings. Sally G-Funk and I were the first ones there and we thought we were totally roughing it until we saw kids walking home from school to the RV park next to our campground. It was only 20 minutes from our house and that was super nice. But I have to be honest, camping in the desert isn't as fun as when there are trees. I spent 2 hours taking apart pallets with no utensils. Basically I threw it, jumped on it, used Sally purely for her body weight and managed to cut myself up a bunch. But the fire was AMAZING and totally worth it. It was way to big and the campground security came twice to tell us all the things we were doing wrong. I'll let you guess who was in charge of the campfire.
We had banana boats and smores and it was really a lot of fun. Then I got a bunch of people to play truth or dare. But at that point of the night we were all too lazy to pick dare, so it was more like truth or truth. I slept underneath the stars and woke up at 4 just cause. I kept dreaming that rattle snakes would bite my ears. Couldn't go back to sleep so at 6 I went for a nice morning hike and by the time I got back to camp, everyone else was up.
We had a nice little breakfast and then played dare or dare. It's like truth or truth only with dares. The dare was to people standing in line to eat this gross fruit platter from Costco that tasted synthetic. Most people didn't even know that they were playing until after. But it was very entertaining. Packed up the stuff and got back home by 9. Shortest camping trip I ever went on.
The sweetest thing was the 3 hour nap I took that day. It was so nice and I loved it. Sunday was full of church and then almost 3 hours of Rockband. So my stance on video games may be changing, but it's still too early to tell. That will be another blog.

My Throne

My stats class is all the way across campus from where I park and I am always right on time(aka 2 minutes late everyday, but not enough for him to get mad) On the first day there, I walk in late and look for a seat. All the ones closest to the front were taken, so I moved to the back of the class and saw the most wonderous thing. The perfect chair.
State is definitely not known for their compfy chairs. Most of them look like they went through a bad time in the 60's and after all the free love, all the backs were set to a super 85 degrees so you lean forward. Made of mostly wood and plastic that breaks off and sticks you when you least expect it, you would think with all that drug money running around here they could spend some on the chairs. Plus the table attached is approximately 7 cm2. Please see photo evidence.

So when I walked in and saw the class full and saw this empty, I knew that it was meant to be my throne. I rushed back to the soft leather and spacious desk attached. This was to be my throne the whole semester. I often wondered why no one took the chair. Ever! No one ever took it. They had plenty of opportunity to, I was always late. It wasn't until today that they were really tempted. We had our final and why the rest of the students pulled 2-3 chairs together to make an area large enough to hold a piece of paper, I was loving the high life on my throne. Yes, I know that it was put there for disabled people, but in the back of the room, no one could hear what a teacher was saying anyways. Don't I look so great on my throne?

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

This Monday turned in a huge project and I HOPE that it was correct. It felt good to turn it in and take a quiz afterwards. For FHE we went to the beach and I played bocce ball. I, along with my female teammate, kicked the trash out of 2 sets of insolent male teams. One set will be buying us dinner next Tuesday. Little did they know of my super hidden talent at throwing balls. Tuesday I didn't have class so I slept in. Then I went on my Boot camp training route. I run 3 miles, then do circuit training in the park. This includes:
Lunges to the push up bar
3 sets of push-ups, 12 reps. 1 set narrow grip, 2 sets wide grip
Running to the next station
3 sets of tricep dips 12 reps
3 sets of sit ups, includes crunches, twists, toe touches
Running to the next station
5 chin ups(yes I'm that weak)
running to the next station
Leg lifts sumo-style 3 sets of 12 reps
Running to the next station
Jumping over bars, 2 times
Running to the next station
Wall squats for 1 min
Run to the end
It's really fun and I like being outside.

That day I worked more and my bossed complimented me a lot for my hard work. We are starting a new study and I have been doing a lot of things for the first time and trying to figure out how to get them done. Tuesday night I did hw for a very long time and listened to new music. This includes:
1) Gossip-a rock band
2) Chris Brown-Forever
3) Alicia Keys-Teenage Love Affair

Wednesday
I went to the gym and did lots of exercises with a medicine ball. Then I worked all day. That night a friend came over to do hw and we got some done. Found out today after I turned it in that it was all wrong. Nice?

I must say that everyday I had my normal breakfast of 1 egg, 1 egg white, red green and yellow bell pepper, onions, mushrooms and 1 Morning Star Breakfast patty. I'm not vegetarian, but I like the way it taste without all the fat. I also ate a lot of Fiber 1 bars, they are really good and taste oh so chocolately. I have also been eating a lot of salad with mostly the same veggies from breakfast.

Other than that I have been super busy with trying to get stuff done for finals. I have one monday, one thursday and a bunch of stuff due next week. The following week will even be more busy. Thanks for asking about my days. I feel like this is really an online journal.
